“No one—not rock stars, not professional athletes, not software billionaires, and not even geniuses—ever makes it alone.” – Malcolm Gladwell
I have been using the name Seven Sigma, 7Sigma, Sigma7, and variations as an Internet alias for some time.
This is primarily a self-development and metaphysical blog, where I shall be posting my musings about self-enhancement, education, the development of personal abilities, and intelligence, and particularly from the perspective of having multiple interests in a world that favours specialists. Themes I cover are high IQ, applied neuroscience and applied psychophysiology, brain boosting, study and memory skills, and self-development, as well as personal opinions about the role of the exceptionally and profoundly gifted in society.
I should probably clear up any possible confusion about the name. Anyone with any knowledge of basic statistics will recognise “sigma” as being shorthand for a standard deviation (how far from the middle something is on a normal distribution curve). I don’t know of anyone who would fall at the seven sigma level of intelligence, nor have I ever heard of any standardised test capable of discriminating at that level. I certainly make no such claim for myself! Call it a description of an aspiration for myself and the human race, a postulate towards greater understandings of matters beyond this humble Earth.
There is a separate website at http://www.sevensigma.info, which consists of longer articles, many of which have also been published in society magazines or elsewhere, on similar topics to the themes mentioned above.
If you have any queries related to this blog please email to: sevensigma777 [at] yahoo [dot] co [dot] uk (but for those who have my older email address – that still works too).
Hi, I’m the Polymathica.com owner and author of the article you cite. We should talk.
I too have self educated; after reading many of your articles I see many similarities in shared opinions. My own reason for not fitting the current educational model is Adhd which to me is a separate and different brain chemistry. Your writing and many varied interests might also qualify you for the Jack-of-All-Trades degree that is missing in the educational model(lol). To me my brain chemistry is a natural non-conformist and needs an individualized education and special environment perhaps more home based. A component I recognize contributes to introversion is something I read about that pertains to at least some of us with Adhd is Racing Brain Syndrome because my brain is always racing anything anyone else wants me to do is asking me to do 2 things at once which is tiring and of course frustrating and frustration is the source of anger. So it causes aloneness being most peaceful but peaceful for someone with RCB is merely relevant. Einstein’s (famous genius also had Adhd-how else does someone who is so genius never learn to drive a car–I propose RCB–he was already busy in the head and always) his parents home schooled him after his teacher said that his lack of attention would ensure he would be a garbage man at best. So he showed up at university a genius mainly because he wasn’t educated in an institution where individuality is squished every second. The boundary’s are too enclosed for individuals to blossom.
